About The Position
The Product Engineer works in Lam Research’s Office of the CTO, helping develop semiconductor equipment and process design solutions and address customer challenges. The role supports product development from prototyping through development, deployment or product release, and initial field support. It combines experimental engineering, technical problem-solving, product-quality improvement, and close engagement with customers and internal teams. The position involves designing and conducting experiments, tests, and prototypes to resolve complex technical problems; analyzing results and preparing concise reports and recommendations; and collaborating with cross-functional and cross-cultural teams on product specifications and development. The engineer also provides technical support for installation and for diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, and debugging complex product issues. Customer engagement includes face-to-face interaction and international travel to customer sites. Work takes place in a cleanroom laboratory and/or a customer semiconductor fab environment.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Material Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Optics, Physics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field, with 3 or more years of experience; or a PhD with no previous professional experience; or equivalent experience.
- Exceptional analytical and experimental design skills.
- Clear communication and presentation skills.
- Comfortable traveling up to 25% of the time.
Nice To Haves
- Prior product design and technical engineer experience.
- Experience designing, specifying, building, operating, and maintaining semiconductor, automotive, aerospace, or related hardware, tools, and equipment.
- Experience coordinating and communicating with cross-functional teams.
- Creative thinking, problem-solving, and troubleshooting complex hardware.
Responsibilities
- Collaboratively engineer semiconductor equipment and process design solutions to resolve customer issues and improve product quality.
- Support product development from prototyping and development through deployment or product release and initial field support.
