About The Position

WCNC Charlotte is seeking a dynamic and visionary Producer to lead its Charlotte Today lifestyle program. The Producer will oversee all aspects of the show, including content development and production, and will help evolve the program while maintaining its focus on local stories and paid content. The role involves developing content and audience-engagement strategies, working with the Charlotte Today team to create compelling segments, managing the daily show calendar and resources, reviewing linear and streaming data, and executing sponsored segments.

The successful candidate will help shape the future of Charlotte Today by building on the program’s history and adapting it for the modern media landscape. Requirements

• Proven track record in television production, preferably for a magazine-style or news program.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Exceptional leadership skills and experience.
• Ability to make critical decisions under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Creative vision for evolving Charlotte Today content and workflows.
• Ability to calmly handle live, breaking news, and changing events.
• Strong organization and planning skills, including the ability to work under constant time-sensitive deadlines.

• Familiarity with multi-platform content distribution strategies.
• Knowledge of current trends in local television and digital media.
• Eagerness to gain in-depth knowledge of the Charlotte market and its diverse communities.
• Ability to schedule ahead and plan shows two weeks out.
• Knowledge of AP ENPS, Edius, photojournalism, video editing, and content management systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategies to enhance the show's content and audience engagement.
• Collaborate with the Charlotte Today team to create compelling segments that resonate with viewers.
• Oversee the daily Charlotte Today calendar and allocate resources to maximize production value.
• Analyze linear and streaming data to refine and improve the program.
• Organize and execute sponsored segments.
• Lead the Charlotte Today lifestyle program and oversee its content development and production.
