About The Position

The Produce Manager is responsible for the sales and operation of the Produce Department at Sprouts Farmers Market. The role oversees product quality, merchandising, cleanliness, organization, and inventory, while leading the team to deliver high-quality products and excellent customer service. The manager coaches and develops team members, participates in performance reviews, makes staffing and scheduling decisions, and collaborates with the Store Manager on hiring and promotions. The position also serves as a Key Carrier and may act as Manager on Duty as needed.

Requirements

Be at least 18 years of age.
Have 1–3 years of grocery retail experience, including produce management experience.
Have basic knowledge of math, weights, and measures.
Have good communication skills and the ability to take direction and work as part of a team.
Perform general housekeeping and clean and sanitize department work areas, including tables, floors, walls, cases, coolers, and freezers.
Follow safety, health, and Weights and Measures regulations.
Be able to stand, walk, bend, and climb throughout the workday; lift, stack, and maneuver objects weighing up to 50 pounds from 4 to 72 inches in height, for distances up to 3 feet, for 10–50 hours without mechanical assistance.
Be able to operate a pallet jack to move pallets up to 20 feet, requiring up to 85 pounds of force, for up to 5 hours.
Be able to maneuver six-wheel carts requiring up to 35 pounds of force for up to 2 hours and distances up to 20 feet.
Be able to walk up to 5 miles during an 8-hour shift.
Obtain and maintain a Food Handlers permit.
Work a flexible schedule that may change with business needs, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Have working knowledge of personnel reports, margin reports, weekly sales numbers, and financial goals.
Demonstrate outgoing, friendly behavior and a positive attitude toward team members and customers.

Responsibilities

Oversee sales and operations of the Produce Department.
Maintain produce quality, merchandising, department cleanliness, and organization.
Manage inventory.
Coach, evaluate, and develop team members through feedback and one-on-one discussions; recommend merit increases through the bi-annual performance review process.
Attend and participate in in-store meetings.
Recruit and hire team members and make promotion or transfer recommendations in collaboration with the Store Manager.
Use independent judgment to address team member concerns.
Document and take corrective action when needed, coordinating with business and HR partners on performance management, including coaching, counseling, progressive discipline, suspension, or termination.
Create and adjust schedules and staffing levels to support productivity and efficiency.
Communicate standards, expectations, policy changes, and product knowledge to team members.
Lead the team in delivering quality products, service, and customer experiences.
Serve as a Key Carrier and/or act as Manager on Duty as needed.
