About The Position

This role maintains and operates the produce department, including trimming and preparing merchandise according to company and department standards. The associate helps ensure the work shift contributes to the store’s financial best interest and completes other duties as assigned in a timely manner. The role involves preparing, weighing, packaging, labeling, stocking, rotating, and merchandising produce and floral products; maintaining department cleanliness and presentation; assisting with deliveries; and following company guidelines for safety, food handling, and guest experience. The associate may also be assigned tasks in other departments based on customer experience needs.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED preferred.
One year of retail or related experience preferred.
Must be able to work with fresh fruits and vegetables without negative allergic consequences that adversely affect the ability to perform.
Ability to read, write, comprehend, and interpret documents.
Basic mathematical skills.
Detail-oriented.

Responsibilities

Cut, slice, and prepare produce as directed, following established procedures for culling, trimming, and storing product.
Weigh, package, and label products.
Handle spoiled or damaged products according to established guidelines.
Fill, rotate, and merchandise produce and floral shelves, cases, and displays; assist with unloading deliveries and stacking product in coolers.
Notify the Manager when products or supplies need to be ordered.
Use suggestive selling techniques with customers.
Maintain familiarity with department products, including differences in price, taste, preparation, and use.
Maintain clean, attractive, and well-stocked departments.
Follow all PPE and safety guidelines.
Follow food safety and cleaning expectations.
Follow guest experience guidelines.
Perform tasks in other departments when assigned based on customer experience needs.
Complete additional responsibilities as assigned.
