About The Position

The Produce Clerk sorts, displays, removes, and replenishes fresh fruits and vegetables in the produce department. The role maintains the department’s overall environment by assisting members with product knowledge and customer service, and ensures produce meets or exceeds company quality standards.

The clerk inspects, rotates, and stores deliveries; maintains freshness, stock levels, displays, and reserve inventory; follows disposal guidelines; and cleans and sanitizes equipment and work areas. The role also supports inventory and order processing, creates signage and performs price checks, follows club policies and procedures, and may perform duties in other departments as needed. Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function.

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age.
• Maintain regular, predictable, full attendance.
• Move about frequently on hard surfaces and position oneself to examine or scan merchandise, including bending, climbing, crawling, handling, pulling, reaching, and stooping.
• Frequently lift objects up to 50 pounds; lifting and moving heavy or awkward objects over 50 pounds may be required with assistance.
• Work in an indoor environment with frequent exposure to temperature extremes from freezers, ovens, and/or coolers.

Responsibilities

• Assist members in the produce department by answering questions, recommending products and safe-handling tips, and helping them locate products throughout the club.
• Inspect, rotate, and store produce deliveries and ensure received products meet or exceed company standards.
• Rotate produce on the sales floor to maintain freshness and variety; keep cases and displays stocked, neat, and clean; and remove products unsuitable for sale.
• Maintain the produce reserve stock area by dating and rotating back stock and keeping the area organized and condensed daily.
• Follow established guidelines for disposing of damaged, spoiled, or expired products.
• Assist the Fresh Manager with inventory and order processing as needed.
• Clean and sanitize produce equipment, display fixtures, and areas, including the produce cooler and refrigerated display cases.
• Generate produce signage and perform price checks as needed; ensure items are accurately priced and signed.
• Maintain club policies and procedures.
• Perform other assigned duties, including working in other departments as needed.
• Maintain regular, predictable, full attendance.
