Produce Clerk Part Time
About The Position
The Produce Clerk sorts, displays, removes, and replenishes fresh fruits and vegetables in the produce department. The role maintains the department’s overall environment by assisting Members with product knowledge and customer service, and ensures produce meets or exceeds company quality standards. The Produce Clerk supports BJ’s policies, procedures, and compliance; contributes to a safe, positive, inclusive, and collaborative environment; and follows the club’s GOLD Member and club standards. The position also requires understanding department performance reporting and how consistent execution affects business results.
Requirements
- At least 18 years of age.
- Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job.

Responsibilities
- Assist Members in the produce department by answering questions, recommending products and safe handling tips, and helping Members find products throughout the club.
- Inspect, rotate, and store produce deliveries, ensuring received produce meets or exceeds company standards.
- Rotate produce on the sales floor to maintain freshness and variety; keep cases and displays stocked, neat, and clean; and remove products no longer suitable for sale.
- Maintain the produce reserve stock area by dating and rotating back stock and organizing and condensing the storage area daily.
- Dispose of damaged, spoiled, or expired products according to established guidelines.
- Assist the Fresh Manager with inventory and order processing as needed.
- Clean and sanitize produce equipment, display fixtures, and areas, including the produce cooler and refrigerated display cases.
- Generate produce signage and perform price checks as needed; ensure items are accurately priced and signed.
- Maintain club policies and procedures.
- Perform other assigned duties, including working in other departments as needed.
- Maintain regular, predictable, full attendance.
- Support safe, positive, and excellent Member experiences; address or escalate Member concerns as appropriate.
- Work as part of a team to meet daily GOLD club standards, including stocking, executing promotional plans, maintaining accurate signage, and keeping the club clean and organized.
