Produce Assistant Manager
About The Position
The Produce Assistant Manager assists the Produce Manager in overseeing daily produce operations and provides leadership and direction to support profitable department operations. The role helps grow the team’s capacity for efficiency, effectiveness, and service, supporting the company’s succession needs. The Produce Assistant Manager serves as a role model by driving results while maintaining company core values. The position supports sales and labor planning, scheduling, inventory management, product quality and rotation, customer service, and the department’s standards for cleanliness, organization, safety, loss prevention, sanitation, and food safety. The role may also assist in other store areas as needed.
Requirements
- Produce or grocery experience is desirable.
- Customer service experience is desirable.
- Ability to walk continuously throughout the day while moving around the store and obtaining product from the warehouse.
- Ability to stand continuously throughout the shift while stocking product.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 75 pounds.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Produce Manager with preparing weekly sales and labor projections to maximize sales and profits.
- Assist with preparing weekly schedules based on projected sales and workload.
- Maintain inventory levels.
- Complete assigned opening and closing duties.
- Communicate and enforce standards for quality, cleanliness, organization, customer service, safety, loss prevention, sanitation, produce conditions, and food safety.
- Ensure shelves are organized and product labels are in place.
- Examine products purchased for resale or received for storage to assess their condition.
- Help provide exceptional service; ensure products are handled properly, date controls are performed, and the freshest products are rotated properly and available to customers.
- Greet and assist customers and respond to customer inquiries and complaints.
- Help in any area as needed to support store needs.
