About The Position

The Assistant Produce Manager oversees daily Produce Department operations, with a focus on freshness, quality, merchandising, inventory control, sales, and customer service. The role supports high standards for produce presentation and food safety while training and developing associates and helping the department meet business needs. It is a fast-paced, hands-on position in a high-volume retail environment. The role requires flexible availability, including weekends and holidays, and involves lifting, moving, and stacking product and working in coolers and refrigerated environments. No travel is required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily Produce Department operations, focusing on freshness, quality, and customer service.
• Deliver knowledgeable, friendly service and ensure associates demonstrate strong product knowledge.
• Execute corporate merchandising programs, planograms, seasonal sets, and promotional displays.
• Maintain full, fresh, clean, and visually appealing produce displays.
• Manage product rotation, remove damaged or unsellable items, and maintain freshness standards.
• Order, receive, inspect, and store product according to food safety and rotation guidelines.
• Manage shrink through inventory controls, root-cause identification, and waste-reduction strategies.
• Build and manage labor schedules aligned with business needs.
• Train, coach, and develop produce associates while maintaining a positive team environment.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, safety, and company operational standards.
