About The Position

The Procurement Officer works within the Purchasing Department at Murdoch Developmental Center, purchasing or contracting for the supplies, materials, equipment, and services needed for the center’s daily operations. The department seeks best-value products and services in support of its mission while maintaining public trust and ensuring compliance with applicable North Carolina General Statutes and the requirements of the Division of Purchase and Contract, the Department of Information Technology, and the Division of State Operated Healthcare Facilities. All Murdoch Center employees are designated as essential during adverse weather and emergency events.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of procurement experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Demonstrated experience establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with personnel and/or vendors.
• Demonstrated supervisory experience.
• Thorough knowledge of accepted practices, principles, methods, and procedures for governmental or private-sector procurement.
• Technical expertise to write effective solicitations for goods and services.
• Completion of the North Carolina Contract Management Certification Program within one year of hire.
