Processor and Retail Stock Associate
About The Position
Goodwill Industries of Akron is hiring an entry-level Processor / Retail Stock Associate to support its mission of helping individuals prepare for, find, and retain employment. The associate sorts and inspects donated goods and textiles to ensure they meet Goodwill quality standards and determines whether items are suitable for resale. The role includes testing electronic merchandise for safe operation, preparing goods for resale, completing accurate reports, supporting service participants’ development, and maintaining a clean, safe work area while following equipment operating procedures.
Requirements
- Ability to lift and move up to 30 pounds.
- Basic mathematical skills.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays as required.
- Self-motivation, teamwork, excellent communication skills, reliability, a positive attitude, pride in work, and efficiency.
Nice To Haves
- Previous customer service experience, preferably in retail or food service.
- Work experience in a warehouse or manufacturing setting.
Responsibilities
- Sort donated goods and textiles with attention to detail and Goodwill quality control standards.
- Inspect textiles, furniture, appliances, small household wares, novelty items, books, toys, decorations, and sporting goods to determine salability.
- Test electronic merchandise to determine whether it operates safely.
- Sort, hang, tag, price, and prepare goods for resale.
- Prepare accurate reports as required throughout the day.
- Help promote the development of service participants.
- Maintain a clean work area free of hazards and operate equipment safely.
