Canadian Tire CorporationToronto, ON
CA$23 - CA$37Onsite

About The Position

This is a 4-month internship position for Fall 2026. The role involves streamlining and standardizing workflows within the Atlassian platform, specifically focusing on Jira. The goal is to reduce the complexity and inconsistency caused by numerous custom workflows by identifying patterns, documenting existing processes, and recommending a consolidated model with a target of reducing workflows to four standard types. This is a hands-on, self-directed role ideal for a student who enjoys investigating systems, spotting patterns, and translating complexity into clear visuals and recommendations. The student will work independently, primarily using Lucidchart for analysis and process mapping.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program (e.g., Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Business Technology Management, or a related discipline).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to break down complex systems and spot patterns.
  • Proven ability to work independently, manage your own time, and drive a project forward with minimal supervision.
  • Comfortable building process flows and diagrams in Lucidchart (or a strong ability to learn quickly).
  • Clear written and visual communication for documenting processes and recommendations.
  • Curiosity and persistence to dig into a system, ask questions, and understand the “why” behind how things were built.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to Jira and Confluence (as a user or administrator), including familiarity with workflow concepts (statuses, transitions, workflow schemes) an asset.
  • Understanding of business analysis or process improvement concepts (e.g., BPMN, workflow standardization, Lean thinking) an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate and reverse-engineer existing Jira workflows across boards and projects to understand their configuration, including statuses, transitions, conditions, validators, and post-functions.
  • Create clear, accurate current-state (as-is) process maps and workflow documentation in Lucidchart.
  • Analyze the full inventory of production workflows to identify commonalities, redundancies, and patterns that can be consolidated.
  • Design a proposed future-state model that reduces production workflows to four standard workflow types, with clear rationale and mapping from old to new.
  • Provide practical, prioritized recommendations for consolidation, standardization, and cleanup, including risks and considerations for migration.
  • Share findings and visuals with the BSA Practice and IT Operations stakeholders in a clear, easy-to-follow format.
