About The Position

Ingredion is seeking an ambitious student to join their Belcamp manufacturing facility for Summer 2027 as a Process Engineering Intern. This role will support projects and continuous improvement initiatives focused on standardizing work processes, improving equipment reliability, and enhancing operational performance. The intern will collaborate with teams in a dynamic, cross-functional manufacturing environment to ensure the safe and efficient production of high-quality food ingredients.

Requirements

• Progress towards a Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering or related field.
• Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment.
• Interpersonal, verbal and written technical communication skills, e.g. making presentations and writing technical data/reports.
• Reliable transportation required to get to and from facility each work day.
• Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional manufacturing environment.
• Comfortable working in a hands-on manufacturing environment with a strong desire to learn plant processes, equipment operations, and production workflows.
• Critical thinker with a continuous improvement mindset.
• Currently possess unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.
• Be a currently enrolled student in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program.
• If currently enrolled in an undergrad status, must have completed at least two years of coursework with status as a sophomore, junior or non-graduating senior.

Responsibilities

• Support process improvement and operational excellence initiatives across manufacturing areas to enhance safety, quality, reliability, and efficiency.
• Assist with engineering projects from concept through implementation, including data collection, analysis, testing, and documentation.
• Update and maintain technical documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), batch records, equipment information, and process workflows.
• Participate in plant continuous improvement programs, including 5S, visual management, root cause analysis, and standardization initiatives.
• Assist with operator training, implementation of new processes, and deployment of process improvements on the manufacturing floor.
