Intern, Process Engineering

ASM•Phoenix, AZ

About The Position

As a Process Engineer Intern at ASM, you will gain hands-on experience with advanced semiconductor processing and analytical equipment while supporting research, development, and optimization of semiconductor manufacturing processes. Depending on the project, you may be exposed to Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD/PEALD), Epitaxy, PECVD, oxidation, annealing, and curing for applications in logic, memory, analog, power, and MEMS devices. You will work with experienced process engineers and technical teams, contribute to a defined project, participate in experiments, analyze process and materials data, and learn how advanced thin-film processes are developed and optimized. The internship provides an opportunity to apply academic concepts in a real-world semiconductor environment. Interns support process and thin-film development, experiment design and execution, data analysis, troubleshooting, and materials characterization. They collaborate across technical teams, document procedures and findings, participate in technical discussions, and complete a defined project aligned with ASM’s process development or technology objectives. At the end of the internship, interns prepare and deliver a technical presentation summarizing their project, results, key learnings, and recommendations. This position is specifically designed as a student internship. Candidates should be actively enrolled in an accredited degree program during the internship period or meet ASM’s applicable internship eligibility requirements. Depending on the assignment, hands-on work may take place in laboratory, cleanroom, and semiconductor processing environments, with applicable safety and operational requirements to be followed.
