About The Position

This course provides a general overview of civil procedure, reflecting existing and proposed rules of practice, as well as professional ethics and responsibility. It covers the general theory of legal action, judicial organization and court jurisdiction. The ordinary and incidental procedure in the first instance includes service (including ex juris service), pleadings, and pre-trial procedures. It also covers introductory and interlocutory motions, default judgment procedures, judgments, costs, and appeals. The course also addresses parties, including joinder of parties, joinder of causes of action, consolidation of actions, and impleader of third parties.

Requirements

  • LL.B. or J.D. (or equivalent).
  • Member in good standing of the Law Society of Ontario (or equivalent).
  • Significant experience in the field of civil procedure.
  • Must be a Regular Part-Time Professor.
