The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) at the University of Oregon is seeking applicants with experience and enthusiasm for teaching composition to first-year students for our Pro Tem instructor open pool. Appointees will primarily teach undergraduate composition courses in the Department of English. Candidates should demonstrate experience with best practices in writing pedagogy, inclusive teaching practices, and the ability to support first-year student success. Positions are limited duration appointments potentially renewable for up to a total of three years, based on programmatic need, funding, and performance. Screening of applications will take place as positions become available and continue until positions are filled. Occasional courses in film and media, lower-division literature (Introduction to Drama, Poetry, or Fiction, Shakespeare, British or American surveys), and folklore may be available depending on department needs. Advising students in office hours and participation in program assessment as part of teaching duties are expectations of the appointments. Pro Tem Faculty are expected to attend Composition Conference and Composition Program meetings, as their teaching schedules allow.
