About The Position

A family in Austin is seeking an educator to lead a highly personalized, faith-based home education program for their seven-year-old son. The initial assignment is one early-elementary student, with instruction adapted to his readiness across subjects. The student is bright, curious, energetic, and enjoys trains, drawing, books, music, and outdoor activities. Autism, ADHD, language differences, and sensory needs affect how he engages with instruction and demonstrates understanding. He benefits from concrete directions, visual supports, predictable routines, repetition, modeling, movement, and flexible ways to respond. The educator will design and deliver an individualized early-elementary program with a strong emphasis on explicit, systematic foundational reading instruction. The student is developing decoding and early reading skills and currently uses All About Reading Level 1. The program will also support writing, math, communication, confidence, practical independence, and a love of learning. The educator will select and adapt agreed-upon curriculum, including faith-based resources aligned with the family’s goals, and use observations and work samples to guide instruction. Instruction will take place primarily in a dedicated learning room in the family’s private home, with outdoor learning and community outings incorporated. The educator will establish a purposeful daily rhythm that balances clear expectations and instruction with movement, sensory breaks, creativity, and flexible problem-solving. The role includes planning and organizing instruction and materials, documenting learning, communicating progress and next steps, and collaborating with parents, household caregivers, the student’s established provider, and therapists as authorized. Community outings may include library visits and everyday interactions, and occasional student transportation is required. This is approximately 25 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with about 20 instructional hours and five planning hours; exact daily times will be finalized. The calendar loosely follows the Eanes ISD school-year schedule. The target start is January 2027, with flexibility. Thrive Education Partners is the employer and employment point of contact, and facilitates candidate matching, interviews, and placement. Compensation is an annual salary of $40,000–$45,000, commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications. Benefit details and final employment terms will be confirmed before an offer.
