About The Position

A family in Austin, Texas, is seeking an educator to lead a highly personalized home education program for their seven-year-old son. Instruction will take place primarily in a dedicated learning room in the family’s private home, with outdoor learning and community outings incorporated. The family seeks a faith-based educational approach and a professional partnership with the parents. The student is bright, curious, and energetic, and enjoys trains, drawing, books, music, and being outdoors. Autism, ADHD, language differences, and sensory needs affect how he engages with instruction and demonstrates understanding. He benefits from concrete directions, visual schedules, modeling, repetition, manageable task sequences, and accessible response options. The educator should presume competence and adapt instruction while maintaining purposeful learning goals. The central academic priority is foundational reading. The educator will provide explicit, systematic instruction, currently building on All About Reading Level 1, while helping the student transfer skills to unfamiliar text. The program should also build confidence, communication, practical independence, and a love of learning. It should combine predictable routines and clear expectations with movement, creativity, warmth, and flexible problem-solving. The role includes designing and leading an individualized early elementary program; establishing starting points and monitoring progress; selecting, adapting, and delivering agreed-upon curriculum, including faith-based resources; and documenting learning and communicating updates. The educator will support task initiation, organization, handwriting, attention, practical routines, and materials management; plan outdoor and community learning experiences; and provide occasional student transportation. They will maintain active supervision, follow agreed safety procedures, organize the learning environment, and collaborate with the parents, household caregivers, the student’s established provider, and therapists as authorized. This is a W-2 position through Thrive Education Partners. The schedule is approximately 25 hours per week, Monday through Friday, including approximately 20 instructional hours and five planning hours. Exact daily times will be finalized. The calendar loosely follows the Eanes ISD school-year schedule. The target start is January 2027, with flexibility. Annual salary is $40,000–$45,000, depending on relevant experience and qualifications; benefit details and final employment terms will be confirmed before an offer.
