About The Position

The Private Banking Officer manages client relationships and develops business by providing banking solutions and services to new and existing clients. The role manages day-to-day transactions, coordinates complex client matters, and exercises sound judgment on overdrafts, pricing, and other client-related issues. It is responsible for the direct management and growth of the Private Banking Group portfolio, focusing on retaining, expanding, and deepening client relationships. The officer develops business through internal partnerships, referrals, centers of influence, and networking activities. The position is based in Northbrook, Illinois, and reports to the SVP/Managing Director, Private Banking. It includes client development and service responsibilities, account opening and maintenance, assistance with consumer loan applications, coordination of service and pricing matters, and participation in meetings, education, and Bank-sponsored Community Reinvestment Act activities. Periodic client issues and events may occur outside regular banking hours.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, or equivalent related experience.
Minimum 5 years of previous banking experience.
Demonstrated success developing and expanding client relationships through networking, referrals, and consultative relationship management.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel.
Strong knowledge of bank deposit products and regulations.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, in person and by telephone.
Strong accuracy and attention to detail; ability to manage multiple priorities with flexibility.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to maintain composure and professionalism and adapt to the high service expectations of the Bank’s client base.
Exercise the highest level of discretion and confidentiality.
Knowledge of interest-rate forecasts and other economic markets and financial news.
Understanding of FDIC insurance and the titling and structuring of various account types.

Responsibilities

Strengthen client relationships by evaluating client needs and guiding clients toward banking solutions that support their goals.
Expand existing client and household relationships by identifying opportunities across deposits, lending, treasury management, and other banking services.
Identify referral opportunities through partnerships with other Bank areas and support client needs and relationship growth.
Present and position the Bank’s products and services for client onboarding, retention, and relationship growth.
Connect with clients proactively, conduct annual client reviews, and maintain accurate CRM records and business-development pipeline information.
Prepare client proposals and coordinate approvals when needed; follow established pricing and service-offering guidelines.
Represent the Bank at client, community, professional, and networking events, including periodic events outside regular banking hours.
Open new personal and business accounts and perform account maintenance, including name and address changes, renewals, and signer and beneficiary updates.
Assist with client transactions such as wires, internal transfers, ACH transactions, and fee reimbursements.
Gather information and prepare loan packages for underwriters for clients’ consumer loan applications.
Make overdraft decisions; coordinate service-fee adjustments, exception-pricing requests, and non-posts.
Address Customer Identification Program (CIP) due-diligence exceptions related to account opening within 30 days.
Attend required meetings, handle periodic client issues outside regular banking hours, and work with other departments to deliver products to clients.
Participate in educational opportunities to advance advisory skills and maintain knowledge of consumer and business banking product features and benefits.
Participate in Bank-sponsored CRA activities when available and perform other duties as assigned.
