About The Position

Academies of Math and Science (AMS) is seeking an experienced, results-driven Principal to lead AMS Las Vegas, a K–8 public charter school serving students in historically underserved communities. The Principal will advance academic performance, instructional quality, staff development, and school culture while overseeing daily school operations and ensuring alignment with AMS’s mission, academic model, and organizational expectations. The Principal will provide strategic, student-centered leadership through rigorous, standards-aligned instruction, data-driven decision-making, teacher development, school improvement, and strong relationships with staff, students, families, and community partners. The role is a full-time, year-round, on-site leadership position in Las Vegas, Nevada, with an expected start in Fall 2026. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree required.
Holds or is eligible to obtain a Nevada Administrator/Principal License.
Demonstrated success in school-site leadership, such as Principal, Assistant Principal, Dean, Director, or a comparable leadership role.
Strong instructional leadership background and experience improving student outcomes in underserved or at-risk communities.
Proven ability to lead adults, manage teams, and establish effective school systems.
Experience using student achievement data to guide instructional and operational decisions.
Experience coaching teachers, providing feedback, and supporting professional development.
Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Commitment to the AMS mission of preparing students for college and lifelong success.
Strong staff development and school improvement skills; ability to establish clear expectations, hold staff accountable, and foster a positive school culture.
Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced school environment.

Nice To Haves

Master’s degree.
Experience leading a K–8 school or comparable educational program.
Experience with charter schools or charter management organizations.
Experience serving Title I and/or English Language Learner (ELL) populations.
Bilingual in Spanish, with the ability to engage diverse student and family populations.
Experience leading significant school improvement initiatives.
Familiarity with Nevada academic standards, school accountability requirements, and state education regulations.

Responsibilities

Lead implementation of rigorous, standards-aligned curriculum and instructional practices to improve student achievement.
Establish systems for data-driven instruction, progress monitoring, and continuous academic improvement.
Conduct classroom observations, provide actionable feedback, and coach teachers.
Lead professional development aligned with student needs, instructional priorities, and network expectations.
Analyze student achievement data, identify performance gaps, monitor progress, and implement targeted interventions.
Promote high academic expectations, accountability, and student support.
Establish and maintain a positive, inclusive, academically focused school environment with clear expectations and consistent systems.
Support student behavior management and systems addressing academic and behavioral needs.
Build relationships with teachers, staff, students, and families, and model professionalism, sound judgment, adaptability, and continuous improvement.
Recruit, hire, onboard, and retain instructional and operational staff in partnership with AMS leadership.
Coach, develop, and evaluate staff; provide feedback and professional development; and build leadership capacity.
Foster a collaborative, results-oriented team culture and address performance concerns with clear expectations, support, and accountability.
Identify and develop emerging leaders to strengthen internal leadership pipelines.
Oversee daily school operations to support a safe, organized, and effective learning environment.
Ensure compliance with applicable Nevada education requirements, school policies, and organizational procedures.
Partner with network departments on staffing, enrollment, student services, facilities, and operational needs.
Monitor school performance against academic, operational, and organizational goals.
Maintain effective systems for communication, scheduling, student support, and schoolwide initiatives.
Build relationships with families, community organizations, and local stakeholders; represent AMS in the Las Vegas community.
Establish family engagement practices supporting student achievement, attendance, and retention.
Communicate school priorities, expectations, and progress to families and stakeholders, and support partnerships that contribute to student success and school improvement.
