About The Position

Academies of Math and Science (AMS) is seeking a Founding Principal to lead the launch of AMS Las Vegas, a public charter school serving students and families in underserved communities. The Principal will establish the school's instructional vision and culture and lead school development in partnership with AMS network leadership. The role calls for a strategic, entrepreneurial, community-centered leader with a strong record in instructional leadership, staff development, and student achievement. The Founding Principal will help develop the school's instructional and operational plans, contribute to the charter application, and support school-site selection and facility design. The Principal will lead academic systems and staff recruitment and development, while building relationships with families, community organizations, and local stakeholders. The position is based at the planned school location at 2341 Comstock Drive, North Las Vegas, Nevada. The anticipated start date is late 2026 or early 2027, and the annual salary range is $95,000–$110,000, depending on experience.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree required.
Hold or be eligible to obtain a Nevada Administrator/Principal License.
Demonstrated success in a school-site leadership role, such as Principal, Assistant Principal, Dean, Director, or comparable position.
Strong instructional leadership background, with experience improving student outcomes in underserved or at-risk communities.
Proven ability to lead adults, manage teams, and build effective school systems.
Experience using student achievement data to inform instructional and operational decisions.
Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with AMS leadership to develop and implement an instructional and operational vision aligned with the organization's mission and academic model.
Contribute to the charter application process, including academic programming, governance, and operational planning.
Support school-site selection and facility design to align with instructional and student needs.
Implement rigorous, standards-aligned curriculum and instructional practices to promote student achievement.
Establish systems for data-driven instruction, progress monitoring, and continuous improvement.
Lead the development of a school culture grounded in high expectations, accountability, and student support.
Recruit, hire, onboard, and develop instructional and operational staff.
Provide coaching, feedback, and professional development to build teacher capacity and leadership pipelines.
Foster a collaborative, results-oriented staff culture.
Build relationships with families, community organizations, and local stakeholders.
Represent AMS Las Vegas as its public-facing leader in the community.
Establish family engagement systems that support student success and school sustainability.
