Principal SoC Verification Engineer

NXP Semiconductors•Austin, TX

About The Position

NXP is seeking an experienced SoC Verification Engineer to drive verification of next-generation automotive SoCs used in safety-critical applications. The role owns verification end to end, including planning, testbench development, execution, debugging, and sign-off for complex SoC platforms. The engineer will verify SoC features such as ARM-based subsystems, interconnects (AXI/ACE/CHI), DDR, PCIe, Ethernet, security, boot, low-power and clock/reset architectures, and functional-safety mechanisms. The position also involves closing functional, code, and assertion coverage; resolving RTL, testbench, and system-level issues; collaborating with architecture, design, firmware, validation, and safety teams; and supporting post-silicon debugging and customer issue resolution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in EE, CE, CS, or a related field.
  • 5-4 years of experience in SoC/IP verification (as stated in the posting).
  • Strong expertise in SystemVerilog, UVM, and SVA.
  • Expertise in functional and code coverage.
  • Experience with simulation and debug tools, including VCS, Xcelium, and Verdi.
  • Experience with ARM-based SoCs and industry-standard protocols including AXI, PCIe, DDR, and Ethernet.
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Automotive SoC experience.
  • Knowledge of ISO 26262 Functional Safety.
  • Experience with Low Power (UPF), Formal Verification, GLS, and Emulation.
  • Experience leading technical initiatives and mentoring engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute SoC verification plans and strategies.
  • Build and maintain SystemVerilog/UVM-based verification environments.
  • Verify ARM-based subsystems, interconnects (AXI/ACE/CHI), DDR, PCIe, Ethernet, security, boot, low-power and clock/reset architectures, and functional-safety mechanisms.
  • Drive functional, code, and assertion coverage closure.
  • Debug RTL, testbench, and system-level issues.
  • Collaborate with Architecture, Design, Firmware, Validation, and Safety teams.
  • Support post-silicon debug and customer issue resolution.
