Principal Silicon Test Engineer - TeraWave

Blue Origin•San Diego, CA

About The Position

Blue Origin is seeking a Principal ASIC Test Engineer to lead production test strategy for RF, mmWave, and mixed-signal integrated circuits within Silicon Systems. This individual-contributor role is the technical lead for final test of mmWave front-end ICs and converter-intensive ASICs, focusing on RF/mmWave performance, high-speed ADC and DAC testing, manufacturability, and cost of test. The role leads test engagement with manufacturing and OSAT partners and mentors internal test engineers supporting front-end IC and digital beamformer programs. The position supports TeraWave, Blue Origin’s satellite communications network, which is designed to deliver symmetrical data speeds of up to 6 Tbps worldwide for enterprise, data center, and government users. Relocation is provided, travel is expected up to 15% of the time, and interviews include a technical assessment. Applicants must meet the stated U.S. citizenship, permanent residency, refugee, or asylum status requirements. The California base pay range is $269,175.00–$376,843.95; ranges at other sites may differ. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis until the requisition is closed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 10 years of semiconductor test experience.
  • Experience developing wafer sort and final test programs on production ATE platforms, including Advantest V93000.
  • Demonstrated experience with RF or mmWave testing and high-speed ADC and DAC testing.
  • Experience taking test programs from silicon bring-up through manufacturing release with external partners.
  • Experience resolving yield and test correlation issues with foundry and OSAT manufacturing partners.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience with phased arrays, antenna-in-package designs, beamforming, or multichannel RF devices.
  • Knowledge of RF and converter measurements, including linearity, noise, dynamic range, phase noise, jitter, ENOB, and SFDR.
  • Experience optimizing multisite test configurations, test time, and overall cost of test in production.
  • Proficiency in Python, C, Java, or similar languages for test automation and production data analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Define wafer sort and final test strategies, coverage targets, and production release criteria for RF and mixed-signal devices.
  • Develop and optimize ATE tests for RF signal chains, frequency conversion, PLLs, clocking, and high-speed ADCs and DACs.
  • Establish test approaches for packaged RF devices, including antenna-in-package calibration, fixture design, and correlation to laboratory measurements.
  • Partner with design and DFT teams to improve test access, observability, and production test efficiency during development.
  • Lead technical work with foundry, manufacturing, and OSAT partners on probe and final test implementation, throughput, and failure analysis.
  • Mentor test engineers and provide test domain guidance across front-end IC and digital beamformer programs.

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Basic and supplemental life insurance.
