Principal Review Supervisor

Voya Financial•Boston, MA
•$56,670 - $94,460

About The Position

Voya Wealth Management is hiring experienced Series 24 principals to perform supervisory review across its dually registered broker-dealer and investment adviser, supporting employee and independent advisor channels. The role reviews brokerage, advisory and managed accounts, insurance and annuity products, fixed income, mutual funds, and options. It calls for sound judgment on complex cases, defensible decisions, and clear explanations, as routine review work increasingly shifts to workflow and automation. The position will also help modernize supervision by testing automated review rules, defining what should be routed to a principal, and identifying processes that hinder good decisions. Its initial focus is Principal Review, with the possibility of supporting broader supervisory activities as the risk-based model develops, with appropriate training and transition support. At the senior level, the reviewer may lead product areas, handle escalated cases, and mentor newer reviewers.

Requirements

  • Active FINRA Series 7 and Series 24 registrations.
  • Active Series 66 registration, or Series 65 held with Series 63, or ability to obtain the required registration within 120 days of hire.
  • For Principal Reviewer: two or more years of experience in principal review, supervision, or a closely related compliance or oversight role.
  • Working knowledge of FINRA suitability and supervision rules, Regulation Best Interest, and product-specific requirements for insurance and annuity, fixed income, and options transactions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience at a dually registered broker-dealer and registered investment adviser, ideally one with an independent advisor channel.
  • Depth in one or more product areas, including insurance and annuity products, fixed income, options, or managed accounts.
  • Experience with review workflow or supervision systems.
  • Experience supporting a FINRA or SEC examination or an internal audit.
  • Experience with branch inspections, communications review, or other supervisory work.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

  • Review brokerage, advisory and managed account, insurance and annuity, fixed income, mutual fund, and options transactions across both advisor channels; approve, condition, or decline transactions according to firm procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Review insurance and annuity purchases, replacements, and 1035 exchanges for suitability and best interest.
  • Review fixed income and options transactions and account approvals, including concentration, credit quality, and strategy suitability.
  • Evaluate advisory account recommendations and rollovers for consistency with Regulation Best Interest and DOL PTE 2020-02, and verify that Care Obligation evidence is complete.
  • Review new account documentation, account changes, and money movement requests routed for principal review.
  • Document decision rationales for internal quality assurance and regulatory examination.
  • Meet service-level turnaround expectations while maintaining review standards.
  • Communicate review decisions clearly and professionally to advisors and staff, explaining how to resolve conditioned or declined items.
  • Escalate patterns, unusual activity, and potential sales-practice concerns to the AVP and Compliance.
  • Partner with Advisor Services, Licensing, and Operations to resolve transaction-blocking issues.
  • Participate in calibration sessions and quality-assurance sampling, and apply feedback to maintain consistent decisions.
  • Stay current on product and regulatory changes and updates to Written Supervisory Procedures, applying them in reviews.
  • At the senior level, serve as a subject-matter lead for one or more product areas, handle complex and escalated cases, and mentor newer reviewers.
  • Help define and test automated review rules, exception criteria, and risk-based routing; identify reviews that need less or greater principal scrutiny.
  • Identify process friction and documentation gaps and propose solutions to the AVP.
  • Support regulatory examinations and internal audits by producing review records and explaining decisions.
  • As supervisory needs evolve, potentially maintain advisor risk profiles; perform risk-based inspections and supervisory testing; review surveillance alerts, complaints, outside business activities, advertising, private securities transactions, continuing education, and representative files; and verify delegated responsibilities of OSJ principals and field supervisors.
