About The Position

Join our dynamic team at Interiors Services & Specialty Products as a Principal level Project Engineering professional. We're seeking an individual with exceptional technical expertise in commercial aircraft seating and interior products. In this role, you'll be responsible for mid to large scale projects that modify and upgrade features, capabilities and in-flight entertainment systems of commercial aviation passenger seats. You will work closely with our program management, procurement, global engineering partners and certification teams to offer world class seating products for our customers. This is your opportunity to leverage your expertise and contribute to the advancement of aviation interiors. This is an onsite position in Winston Salem, North Carolina.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience
  • Must be a U.S. Person - Job requires access to ITAR or 600/500-series EAR information or hardware (directly or indirectly) and the company will not seek an export authorization for this role.
  • Experience with Siemens NX and Teamcenter software is required.
  • Previous experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with FAA regulations, specifically TSO, STC and PMA.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical matter simply to senior leadership.
  • Experience in either the aerospace or automotive industries is highly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all design information and coordinate the activities of all design resources during the execution phase of the project.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to the design team and recommend solutions to challenges discovered while implementing the customers requested upgrades.
  • Represent engineering during in-person and virtual customer design reviews.
  • Record and document delays, changes in scope, and any other impacts to schedule to ensure smooth delivery of project milestones. Recommend countermeasures to recover when issues are found.
  • Pursue all cost saving opportunities to maximize project profitability.
  • Create new designs based on proven products and generate modifications to existing designs to satisfy new customer driven requirements while complying with all safety and regulatory standards.
  • Lead design reviews with the project team, presenting progress and issues to Engineering Management and the Chief Engineer.
  • Oversee physical building of prototype seats for customer meetings and test articles or certification.
  • Author service documents such as service bulletins, service letters and letters of No Technical Objection (NTO).
  • Support customers and global MRO facilities as they implement modifications to aircraft.
