About The Position

Oracle is seeking an experienced program manager with expertise in carbon management and emerging climate technologies to support its net-zero carbon strategy and long-term sustainability commitments. The role focuses primarily on carbon capture, carbon removal, and emerging climate technologies, while also contributing to broader decarbonization initiatives as business needs and sustainability priorities evolve. The successful candidate will combine technical knowledge of engineered and nature-based carbon removal solutions with program management, commercial judgment, and partnership development capabilities. The role evaluates emerging technologies, oversees research and pilot initiatives, and works with technology developers, academic institutions, and industry partners to advance early-stage innovation toward commercially viable, scalable solutions. It requires navigating ambiguity, building expertise in adjacent sustainability domains, developing strategic partnerships, and translating complex technical challenges into actionable programs and long-term business opportunities. The position involves both strategic thinking and hands-on execution within Oracle's fast-paced, highly matrixed cloud infrastructure business.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical, mechanical, environmental, or energy engineering; chemistry; materials science; environmental science; or a related technical discipline.
  • Typically 12 or more years of professional experience in technical program management, engineering, climate technology, carbon management, applied research, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated expertise in carbon dioxide removal, including carbon capture, utilization and storage, or related engineered and nature-based solutions.
  • Experience translating technical due diligence into commercial decisions.
  • Experience evaluating emerging technologies through technical feasibility assessments, techno-economic analysis, lifecycle assessment, pilot development, or commercialization planning.
  • Ability to independently lead complex, cross-functional technical programs from concept and research through demonstration, implementation, or commercialization.
  • Strong understanding of carbon accounting, greenhouse gas measurement, and the scientific principles behind credible carbon reductions and removals.
  • Experience developing strategic partnerships and working with technology providers, research organizations, or commercial counterparties.
  • Strong analytical and business judgment, including assessing technical and financial tradeoffs, developing business cases, and communicating recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to influence without direct authority in a highly matrixed organization.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Experience commercializing emerging climate or energy technologies, progressing solutions from research through pilot deployment and commercial scale.
  • Familiarity with point-source carbon capture, CO₂ transport and storage, direct air capture, biological carbon sequestration, or other durable carbon removal pathways.
  • Experience with carbon removal markets, technology procurement, project finance, long-term offtake agreements, or strategic climate technology investments.
  • Experience in data centers, energy infrastructure, industrial decarbonization, advanced manufacturing, or other technically complex environments.
  • Familiarity with carbon removal verification standards, lifecycle analysis, environmental claims, and emerging regulatory frameworks.
  • Familiarity with GHG Protocol standards, science-based target frameworks, market-based instruments, carbon credit registries, and evolving requirements for corporate carbon removal accounting and claims.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and advance Oracle's carbon capture and removal strategy, evaluating engineered and nature-based solutions for technical feasibility, environmental impact, scalability, cost, and long-term business value.
  • Oversee research and pilot initiatives for emerging carbon capture, utilization, storage, and atmospheric removal technologies, setting milestones, success criteria, and commercialization pathways.
  • Evaluate opportunities to integrate carbon capture solutions into data center infrastructure in partnership with engineering, energy, and operations teams.
  • Build strategic partnerships with technology developers, research institutions, startups, industry organizations, and other stakeholders.
  • Advance emerging technologies toward commercial scale by assessing readiness, implementation risks, cost trajectories, and market conditions, and by developing business cases and recommendations.
  • Develop and evaluate commercial partnership structures, including research collaborations, demonstration projects, strategic investments, and procurement or offtake arrangements.
  • Develop and manage a carbon removal portfolio, balancing cost, durability, technology maturity, delivery timelines, and counterparty risk; track volumes, budgets, and supplier performance.
  • Establish technical evaluation and measurement frameworks for carbon impact, lifecycle emissions, additionality, permanence, environmental risks, and monitoring, reporting, and verification requirements.
  • Lead cross-functional programs involving sustainability, engineering, finance, procurement, legal, and external partners, ensuring clear ownership, milestones, risk management, and measurable outcomes.
  • Support broader carbon and decarbonization initiatives as organizational priorities evolve.
  • Serve as a carbon technology subject-matter expert, monitoring scientific developments, greenhouse gas accounting standards, market-based instruments, and regulatory trends to inform strategy and executive decision-making.
