Principal Program Manager, Carbon Strategy & Innovation

Oracle•Nashville, TN
•$91,000 - $209,500

About The Position

Oracle is seeking an experienced program manager with expertise in carbon management and emerging climate technologies to support its net-zero carbon strategy and long-term sustainability commitments. The role focuses primarily on carbon capture, carbon removal, and emerging climate technologies, while also contributing to broader decarbonization initiatives as business needs and sustainability priorities evolve. The position combines technical knowledge of engineered and nature-based carbon removal solutions with program management, commercial judgment, and partnership development. The successful candidate will evaluate emerging technologies, oversee research and pilot initiatives, and work with technology developers, academic institutions, and industry partners to move innovations toward commercially viable, scalable solutions. The role calls for comfort with ambiguity, the ability to build expertise in adjacent sustainability domains, and skill translating complex technical challenges into actionable programs and long-term business opportunities. It involves strategic thinking and hands-on execution in Oracle’s fast-paced, highly matrixed cloud infrastructure business.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical, mechanical, environmental, or energy engineering; chemistry; materials science; environmental science; or a related technical discipline.
  • Typically 12 or more years of professional experience in technical program management, engineering, climate technology, carbon management, applied research, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated expertise in carbon dioxide removal, including carbon capture, utilization and storage, or related engineered and nature-based solutions.
  • Experience translating technical due diligence into commercial decisions.
  • Experience evaluating emerging technologies through technical feasibility assessments, techno-economic analysis, lifecycle assessment, pilot development, or commercialization planning.
  • Ability to independently lead complex cross-functional technical programs from concept and research through demonstration, implementation, or commercialization.
  • Strong understanding of carbon accounting, GHG measurement, and the scientific principles underlying credible carbon reductions and removals.
  • Experience developing strategic partnerships and working with technology providers, research organizations, or commercial counterparties.
  • Strong analytical and business judgment, including assessing technical and financial tradeoffs, developing business cases, and communicating recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to influence without direct authority in a highly matrixed organization.
