Principal Product Manager

Microsoft•Redmond, WA

About The Position

The Copilot Extensibility and Developer Platform team builds the product, platform, and operational foundations that enable customers and partners to extend Microsoft 365 Copilot with agents, connectors, APIs, and related capabilities. The team works across engineering, design, research, go-to-market, field, support, and partner teams to make these experiences useful, reliable, secure, governable, and ready for enterprise scale. Microsoft is hiring a customer-facing Principal Product Manager to work directly with strategic enterprise customers and partners. The role identifies high-value business problems, incubates early extensibility scenarios, and guides solutions from initial concept through production readiness and repeatable adoption. It combines product judgment, technical depth, and executive-level customer engagement to translate real-world learning into product strategy, platform requirements, and scalable customer-success motions. This hands-on role calls for a leader who can work through ambiguity, move between business outcomes and technical design, and help shape AI-powered work. The role includes strategic customer engagements, incubating production-ready AI solutions, resolving complex implementation issues, translating customer evidence into product direction, and leading cross-functional execution. It also creates reusable patterns and adoption materials, owns success measures, advises customers and executives, contributes to go-to-market readiness, and operates as a senior product leader through influence, principled tradeoffs, coaching, and reusable best practices. Successful candidates will establish trusted relationships with strategic customers, accelerate high-value solutions into production, and create durable feedback loops that improve the Copilot extensibility platform. They will turn ambiguous customer problems into clear product decisions, measurable outcomes, and repeatable patterns that scale across the organization and ecosystem.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of experience in product, service, or program management or software development, or equivalent experience.
  • Substantial experience leading complex, customer-facing software initiatives, including several years owning product strategy, requirements, prioritization, and delivery.
  • Demonstrated success working directly with enterprise customers or partners to move complex solutions from discovery and design into production adoption.
  • Technical fluency in cloud platforms, enterprise software, APIs, data integration, security, governance, and modern AI or agent-based experiences.
  • Ability to influence engineering and business leaders without direct authority, resolve competing priorities, and drive decisions across organizational boundaries.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and executive communication skills, including the ability to translate between customer outcomes, technical constraints, and product strategy.
  • Analytical judgment and experience using customer evidence, telemetry, evaluations, and business metrics to prioritize investments and measure results.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a rapidly evolving environment, balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution, and learn continuously.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree and 12+ years of experience in product, service, or program management or software development, or equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of experience taking a product, feature, or experience to market, such as through design, product-market fit, and launch.
  • 6+ years of experience improving product metrics for a product, feature, or experience in a market.
  • 6+ years of experience disrupting a market for a product, feature, or experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 Copilot, Copilot Studio, agents, connectors, Microsoft Graph, APIs, or comparable enterprise AI and extensibility platforms.
  • Experience designing or prototyping technical solutions and working closely with engineers, architects, and customer delivery teams.
  • Experience with large enterprise deployments involving identity, permissions, data governance, compliance, administration, and change management.
  • Track record of creating reusable customer programs, technical playbooks, reference architectures, samples, or field enablement.
  • Experience influencing product roadmaps from customer feedback and scaling insights from individual lighthouse engagements into broadly applicable capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with senior business and technical stakeholders to identify high-value scenarios, define measurable outcomes, and establish a path from discovery through deployment and adoption.
  • Frame agent, connector, and API scenarios; validate feasibility; and guide customers through architecture, data readiness, security, compliance, governance, deployment, and supportability tradeoffs.
  • Work hands-on with customers, engineering, partners, and delivery teams to diagnose technical and product gaps, resolve issues, and communicate clearly with executives during high-impact engagements.
  • Synthesize qualitative feedback, telemetry, evaluations, support signals, and competitive insights into prioritized requirements, product strategy, and roadmap recommendations.
  • Align engineering, design, research, marketing, business development, field, support, and partner teams around customer outcomes, ownership, milestones, risks, and decisions.
  • Turn customer-specific learning into reusable architectures, onboarding playbooks, samples, evaluation methods, documentation, and enablement.
  • Define and track measures for solution quality, deployment readiness, time to value, adoption, usage, customer health, and business impact, and use results to improve the product and engagement model.
  • Advise customers in executive briefings, architecture reviews, roadmap discussions, and escalation forums while balancing customer needs with platform strategy and engineering constraints.
  • Partner on positioning, technical narratives, launch readiness, field enablement, lighthouse wins, and ecosystem programs for new Copilot extensibility capabilities.
  • Create clarity in ambiguous spaces, make principled tradeoffs, influence across organizational boundaries, and raise product-management standards through coaching and reusable best practices.
