About The Position

Palo Alto Networks is seeking a Principal Product Manager to own synthetic monitoring for Cortex XCOR, its observability platform optimized for containerized environments. The role will translate the needs of SREs and frontend developers—including browser click-paths, multi-step API journeys, and protocol checks—into a unified product that can be defined as code and executed globally or within customer networks. Working with the Real User Monitoring (RUM) team, the product manager will integrate synthetic and real-user monitoring data so synthetic failures can be correlated with affected user cohorts. This is an early-stage build role with ownership of the product’s core decisions, strategy, roadmap, execution model, and customer value measures. The product manager will work with customers, design partners, field teams, engineers, technical stakeholders, and product marketing to research needs, shape the product, deliver cohesive workflows, and define positioning and go-to-market strategy. The role is remote in the US. The stated annual base salary range is $176,800 to $286,000. Compensation may also include restricted stock units and a bonus. Immigration sponsorship is available.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience as a product manager, with deep knowledge of enterprise software.
  • Experience with monitoring, testing, or developer infrastructure products, such as synthetic monitoring, end-to-end browser testing, API testing, or CI/CD tooling.
  • Working knowledge of end-to-end testing of modern web applications, including browser automation (Playwright, Selenium, or Cypress), HTTP and API testing, and protocols such as DNS, TCP, and TLS.
  • A track record of taking a product from zero to one.
  • Ability to present to senior customer leadership and company executives and answer challenging questions.
  • History of shipping with agile processes and tight feedback loops.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to use AI in the Product Development Lifecycle, including document writing and prototyping, while ensuring the product manager’s own ideas and critical thinking remain represented.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with observability, especially OpenTelemetry and how telemetry data is collected, correlated, and stored.
  • Experience building AI-native products and knowledge of building or maintaining MCP servers.
  • Familiarity with digital experience monitoring and how real-user and synthetic data are used together, including Core Web Vitals, user journeys, and JavaScript exceptions.
  • Comfort with test-as-code and infrastructure-as-code workflows and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience building and operating software as a service, including the unit economics of running customer workloads.
  • Experience with design-led product development principles and best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct primary research with SREs, front-end developers, and platform teams to understand journey-testing workflows and pain points.
  • Maintain contact with customers, design partners, and field teams through discovery calls and interviews.
  • Participate in sales calls where synthetic coverage is important and use feedback to inform roadmap priorities.
  • Partner with engineers and technical stakeholders to articulate, scope, and deliver a coherent product.
  • Build on XCOR's observability platform so synthetic results are OpenTelemetry-native signals that correlate with existing metrics, traces, and logs.
  • Own the execution model, including test scheduling, execution locations, customer charges, and customer control.
  • Partner with the RUM product team to integrate synthetic and real-user data into unified customer workflows.
  • Set KPIs to articulate and measure customer value and impact.
  • Own the roadmap end to end: build, sequence, and communicate it, and align the team and business on its evolution.
  • Lead across teams to ensure cohesive features and seamless platform workflows.
  • Partner with product marketing on positioning, messaging, and go-to-market strategy.
  • Analyze the market, engage in design discussions, meet with customers, and identify product gaps to establish product strategy.
  • Define key performance metrics, address critical competitive gaps, and deliver a sequenced product plan.
