About The Position

Palo Alto Networks is hiring a Principal Product Manager to own synthetic monitoring for Cortex XCOR, its observability platform for containerized environments. The role is an early-stage product-building position: translate the needs of SREs, frontend developers, and platform teams into a unified product for defining and running browser journeys, multi-step API tests, and protocol checks as code, globally or within customer networks. The product manager will help connect synthetic monitoring with real-user monitoring (RUM), so synthetic results correlate with affected user cohorts and with the metrics, traces, and logs customers already use. The role owns the product strategy and roadmap, including test scheduling and execution, deployment locations, customer control and charging model, success metrics, and cross-platform workflows. It also works with engineering, RUM, field teams, customers, and product marketing to deliver and position the product. The role is remote in the United States. During the first 30 days, the product manager is expected to analyze the market, participate in design discussions, meet customers, and identify product gaps. Within six months, the role is expected to establish a competitive offering, define key performance metrics, address critical competitive gaps, and deliver a sequenced product plan.

Requirements

  • 10 or more years of product management experience, with deep knowledge of enterprise software.
  • Experience with monitoring, testing, or developer infrastructure products, such as synthetic monitoring, end-to-end browser testing, API testing, or CI/CD tooling.
  • Working knowledge of end-to-end testing for modern web applications, including browser automation tools such as Playwright, Selenium, or Cypress; HTTP and API testing; and underlying protocols such as DNS, TCP, and TLS.
  • Track record of taking a product from zero to one.
  • Ability to present to senior customer leadership and company executives and answer challenging questions.
  • History of shipping products with agile processes and tight feedback loops.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to use AI in the product development lifecycle, including document writing and prototyping, while ensuring personal thinking and ideas are represented; AI agents should reduce toil rather than replace critical thinking.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with observability, especially OpenTelemetry and how telemetry data is collected, correlated, and stored.
  • Experience building AI-native products and knowledge of building or maintaining MCP servers.
  • Familiarity with digital experience monitoring and how real-user and synthetic data are used together.
  • Knowledge of Core Web Vitals, user journeys, and JavaScript exceptions, including what each can and cannot indicate.
  • Comfort with test-as-code and infrastructure-as-code workflows and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience building and operating software as a service, including the unit economics of running customer workloads.
  • Experience with design-led product development principles and best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct primary research with SREs, frontend developers, and platform teams to understand journey-testing workflows and pain points.
  • Maintain close contact with customers, design partners, and field teams through discovery calls and interviews.
  • Participate in sales calls where synthetic coverage is important and use feedback to inform roadmap priorities.
  • Partner with engineers and technical stakeholders to scope, articulate, and deliver a coherent product.
  • Build on XCOR's observability platform so synthetic results are OpenTelemetry-native signals that correlate with existing metrics, traces, and logs.
  • Own the test execution model, including scheduling, execution locations, charging, and customer controls.
  • Partner with the RUM product team to integrate synthetic and real-user data into unified customer workflows.
  • Define KPIs to measure intended customer value and impact.
  • Own the end-to-end roadmap: develop, sequence, communicate, and align the team and business around it.
  • Lead across teams to ensure platform features and workflows are cohesive.
  • Partner with product marketing on positioning, messaging, and go-to-market strategy.
  • Analyze the market, engage in product design discussions, meet customers, identify gaps, and establish product strategy.
  • Establish a competitive product offering by defining performance metrics, addressing competitive gaps, and delivering a sequenced plan.

Benefits

  • Compensation may include restricted stock units and a bonus.
  • Employee benefits are available; details are referenced in the job posting.
