The Principal Mechanical Design Engineer for Data Center Infrastructure is a technical leader responsible for the architecture, integration, and validation of advanced mechanical systems for hyperscale data centers. The role requires expertise in single-phase and two-phase liquid cooling, hydronic system design, structural integration, and manufacturable rack-level infrastructure. It defines system performance requirements, develops technical specifications, selects and integrates critical components, and leads mechanical design from concept through production release. Work includes wetted-material selection, thermal and structural analysis, fastening strategies, component layout, and design for manufacturability. The engineer leads end-to-end mechanical design for data center infrastructure such as liquid-cooled rack assemblies, CDUs, manifolds, enclosures, structural frames, and hydronic piping. The role provides technical authority on liquid-cooling architectures, defines and validates operational requirements, and develops and approves specifications and validation plans. It also leads design reviews, vendor qualification, risk mitigation, root-cause investigations, and continuous improvement in manufacturing and assembly. Designs support modular, prefabricated, and skid-mounted deployment, including factory testing, transport loads, shipping constraints, and inter-module connections. This is a remote role or may be based in Austin, Texas, with up to 25% domestic and/or international travel (described as rare). The listed pay range is $132,400–$238,400. The position is eligible for a performance-based short-term incentive and Jabil benefits.
