Principal Engineer, System Planning (Hybrid Schedule)

Eversource Energy•Hartford, CT
•$150,300 - $167,000•Hybrid

About The Position

Eversource has two openings for a Principal Engineer on its Transmission System Planning team. The role provides technical leadership for complex system-planning studies, develops solutions to challenging engineering problems, and makes major technical and standards recommendations. Positions may be based in Hartford, Connecticut; Westwood, Massachusetts; or Manchester, New Hampshire. The Principal Engineer models and plans the bulk electric power system, develops and improves models of transmission and generation equipment and other resources, and conducts mandatory compliance analyses. Studies follow Eversource, ISO-New England, NPCC, and NERC criteria. The role also prepares regulatory documents, testimony, and written responses, and may testify in regulatory proceedings. It may represent Eversource on regional and national transmission-planning committees. This position is hybrid. Current guidelines require at least three office days per week, including Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with the third day set by the employee and supervisor. Employees must be able to work up to five days in the office when needed or if policy changes. The role requires availability for emergency restoration assignments, which may involve work outside normal responsibilities, hours, or location. Eversource will not provide immigration-related sponsorship for this position.
