That’s why our team is looking to add a Principal Associate, Physical Access Control to ensure our employees have access to the spaces they work in. The Physical Access Control Principle Associate is responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, and optimization of physical access control systems across Capital One’s corporate facilities. This Richmond, VA based role ensures that our physical access control system adequately provides a secure environment, complies with regulatory requirements, and supports our overall security strategy. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in physical access management, strong organizational skills, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally to support security objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least 3 years of experience in physical access control management or security systems.
  • At least 3 years of experience working with physical access control systems, including hardware, software, and credential management.
  • At least 3 years of experience managing vendor relationships and system service agreements.
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements (for example: OSHA, GDPR).

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Security Management, Information Technology, Facilities management, or related field
  • At least 2 years experience working with OnGuard Lenel software (or equivalent access control software).
  • At least 2 years experience working with Security Integrators regarding troubleshooting electronic card readers and other access control devices.
  • At least 2 years experience in Corporate Badging & Security Operations.
  • At least 1 year experience in project management support (use of Jira or other project management tools).
  • Relevant certifications (For example: Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Physical Security Professional (PSP)

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Facilities, IT, and Security teams to ensure seamless and secure physical access designs for new and existing locations.
  • Work closely with the Badging team and Security Integrators to troubleshoot reported access related problems.
  • Assist in regular assessments of physical access needs and modify or expand system designs to align with security goals.
  • Continually optimize physical access control systems, ensuring efficient and secure management of access levels and permissions.
  • Complete system audits and troubleshooting to address issues promptly, minimize downtime, and maintain compliance with security policies and regulatory standards.
  • Monitor system performance, making recommendations for improvements, upgrades, or replacements as necessary.
  • Coordinate with vendors and service providers to ensure system components are well-maintained, supported, and meet organizational requirements.
  • Utilize system tools to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, including but not limited to, industry standards, company policies, and legal requirements.
  • Be the primary point of contact for physical access control issues, collaborating with HR, Facilities, and Security teams to address access needs.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality concerning all special access control requests or work.
  • Assist with the entitlement assignments/ requests for advanced user access to OnGuard and the Visitor Management System
