About The Position

Dauphin County Drug & Alcohol Services is hiring a full-time, day-shift Prevention Specialist. This Merit Hire position provides direct prevention services to the Dauphin County community and school districts, as mandated by the six federal strategies. The role serves as a drug and alcohol liaison to student assistance teams in all 11 county school districts, participating in core team meetings, conducting assessments, attending parent-teacher conferences, and supporting other SAP-related school events. Education and prevention activities take place throughout the community during traditional and non-traditional hours. The hourly rate is $22.76.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in health education, education, the social or behavioral sciences, or a related field, and one year of experience in drug and alcohol prevention work; alternatively, an equivalent combination of experience and training along with a bachelor’s degree in health education, education, or the social or behavioral sciences.
• At the time of hire, a valid driver’s license and positive driving record are required.
• A favorable criminal background check, child abuse and FBI clearances, and favorable references are required.
• Provide proof of a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license within 60 days of hire. An alternative form of identification is accepted for applicants who are ineligible for a Pennsylvania driver’s license under 67 PA. Code § 83 and for whom driving is not an essential function.
