About The Position

Mary's House is seeking a warm, patient, and energetic Preschool Teacher for its Catholic two-year-old classroom. The teacher will provide a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment that supports children’s early social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development through age-appropriate activities and routines. The role includes classroom planning and supervision, care routines, child development documentation, communication with families, and collaboration with staff. Employment is conditional upon successfully fulfilling a Level II Background Screening and Safe Environment Training.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Have the childcare 40 hours or be able to obtain it.
• Knowledge of child development for ages 1–3.
• CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain them.
• Ability to lift, bend, and actively engage with young children.
• Successful fulfillment of a Level II Background Screening and Safe Environment Training is a condition of employment.
• Patient, nurturing, and enthusiastic personality.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Dependable and organized.
• Ability to manage classroom routines and transitions calmly.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain a safe, clean, and supportive classroom environment.
• Plan and implement developmentally appropriate lessons and activities.
• Support children’s social and emotional growth, including sharing, communication, and independence.
• Supervise children at all times, including during play, meals, and rest periods.
• Assist with diapering, toilet training, feeding, and basic hygiene routines.
• Observe and document children’s development and milestones.
• Communicate regularly and professionally with parents and caregivers.
• Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and other staff.
• Follow all licensing regulations, health guidelines, and school policies.
