About The Position

Preschool Substitute Teachers step into classrooms when teachers are absent, maintaining established daily routines, supporting planned learning activities, and providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment where young children feel supported and cared for. The role offers the opportunity to work with a wide variety of students and use an array of teaching methods and techniques. Substitute teachers communicate daily with parents and guardians, collaborate with co-teachers and school staff, assist children with meals, snacks, rest periods, and routine personal care, and help keep the classroom clean, organized, and compliant with safety regulations and licensing guidelines. Other related classroom duties and school support tasks may be assigned. This is an on-call position located in San Jose, California, with a pay range of $25.00–$27.00.

Requirements

• Complete 12 ECE semester units or 18 quarter units, including coursework in Child Growth and Development, Child, Family, and Community, and Program/Curriculum; alternatively, hold a bachelor's degree in Child Development.
• Patience, compassion, and a genuine love for working with young children.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Prior teaching experience with young students.

Responsibilities
