About The Position

Preschool Substitute Teachers step into classrooms when a teacher is absent, working with a variety of students and using different teaching methods and techniques. They follow established daily routines, support planned learning activities, and provide a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment where young children feel supported and cared for. The role also involves communicating with parents and guardians, collaborating with co-teachers and school staff, helping children with meals, snacks, rest periods, and routine personal care, and completing classroom and school support duties as assigned.

This is an on-call position located at 1196 Lime Drive, Sunnyvale, CA 94087. The pay range is $25.50–$27.50.

Requirements

• Completed 12 semester or 18 quarter units in early childhood education, including coursework covering early child development, child, family, and community, and program/curriculum, or a bachelor's degree in early child development.
• Patience, compassion, and a genuine love for working with young children.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Prior teaching experience with young students.

Responsibilities

• Step into the classroom when a teacher is absent.

• Assist children during meals, snacks, and rest periods, and provide routine personal care, including toileting and diaper changing as needed.
• Keep the classroom clean and organized and comply with safety regulations and licensing guidelines.
• Perform other related classroom duties and school support tasks as assigned.
