SHI International Corp.•US - TN - Home Office, TN
•$180,000 - $250,000•Remote

About The Position

The Presales Solutions Architect — Full Stack Observability at SHI International is responsible for being SHI's Subject Matter Expert on all aspects of full stack observability architecture, including application performance monitoring (APM), infrastructure and cloud monitoring, log analytics, digital experience monitoring, network performance monitoring, and the telemetry pipelines and AIOps capabilities that unify them. In this role, you will split your time between presales client engagements and internal practice development. On the presales side, you'll take a consultative approach, leading technical discovery sessions with clients to assess their observability maturity, designing target-state monitoring and telemetry architectures, and delivering compelling demos, POCs, and technical presentations. On the internal side, you'll build reusable collateral such as reference architectures, battle cards, and enablement content; evaluate and qualify new vendor partnerships; and conduct training sessions that keep our engineering and sales teams current on emerging observability technologies, platform capabilities, and best practices. Your credibility and technical depth will make you a trusted advisor to both SHI's most strategic customers and our internal stakeholders, driving meaningful observability outcomes and revenue growth across the Observability practice.

Requirements

  • Strong proficiency in overseeing and directing opportunity engagements to completion, ensuring goals are met, resources are utilized efficiently, and stakeholders are satisfied
  • Deep understanding of end-to-end observability design including instrumentation strategy, telemetry pipeline and data management, tool consolidation and migration planning, SLO-based operating models, and continuous improvement frameworks
  • Expertise in solution design across enterprise systems, integration platforms, and data layers.
  • Strong background in system security, data privacy, and compliance.
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, business-oriented language.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automation tools, and infrastructure-as-code frameworks.
  • Proficient in scripting and automation languages (Python, Go, Terraform, Ansible) and their application to instrumentation, monitoring-as-code, and integration workflows
  • Excellent problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in observability, monitoring, site reliability engineering, systems engineering, application operations, or infrastructure architecture roles with hands-on design and implementation of monitoring and telemetry solutions
  • Demonstrated experience in presales, solutions architecture, or technical consulting within the observability, infrastructure, or application operations domain
  • Experience presenting to customers, internal teams, or industry professional groups on observability, monitoring, or operations topics

Nice To Haves

  • Associate- or professional-level observability platform certification (vendor-specific)
  • APM or full stack monitoring specialty certification (vendor-specific)
  • Cloud architect, cloud engineer, or DevOps engineer certification from a major public cloud provider
  • Kubernetes certification (CKA, CKAD, or equivalent)
  • OpenTelemetry or open-source observability certification
  • ITIL Foundation or ITIL Specialist (for service operations alignment)

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver product demonstrations, proof-of-concepts (POCs), and technical presentations focused on full stack observability solutions including APM, infrastructure and cloud monitoring, log analytics, digital experience monitoring, and network performance monitoring platforms
  • Lead technical discovery sessions to assess clients' observability maturity across application, infrastructure, cloud, network, and end-user experience domains, including current tooling sprawl, data volumes, and incident response workflows
  • Translate complex observability concepts — such as distributed tracing, cardinality and telemetry cost management, service level objectives (SLOs), and AI-driven event correlation — into business-relevant value propositions for both technical and executive audiences
  • Design and present target-state observability architectures covering instrumentation strategy, OpenTelemetry adoption, telemetry pipeline and data tiering design, alerting and SLO frameworks, dashboards, and integration with ITSM, CI/CD, and security operations tooling
  • Develop and maintain internal practice collateral including reference architectures, battle cards, competitive analyses, technical briefs, and vendor evaluation frameworks
  • Evaluate and qualify new vendor technologies and product capabilities; make recommendations on partner adoption, platform consolidation, and legacy monitoring tool retirement
  • Conduct internal enablement sessions for engineering and sales teams on emerging observability technologies, product updates, use cases, and monitoring modernization best practices
  • Drive revenue growth within the presales team by identifying new observability opportunities and optimizing service offerings
  • Collaborate with SHI stakeholder partner teams to create synergistic observability service solutions that integrate across SHI's broader portfolio
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and partners, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and retention through product briefings, demonstrations, and knowledge transfer
  • Stay current with new observability technologies and industry developments; track evolving approaches such as OpenTelemetry standardization, telemetry pipelines, eBPF-based instrumentation, and AIOps to inform architectural recommendations
  • Contribute to practice development by identifying areas for growth, leading innovation initiatives, and creating and maintaining practice standards to ensure high-quality service delivery
