Presales Solution Engineer - Edge AI

HP•TW2CO - Teleworker/Offsite-USA-CO, IL
•$148,950 - $219,700

About The Position

The Presales Solution Engineer – Edge AI is a customer-facing technical leader who transforms Edge AI opportunities into measurable business outcomes and production-ready solutions. The role spans the customer journey from discovery and solution architecture through proof of concept (POC), validation, deployment, and production scale. It serves as a technical bridge among customer requirements, HP's Edge AI capabilities, Advanced Compute platforms, partners, and delivery organizations. Success is measured by moving customers from concept to production and delivering business value, not merely by completing demonstrations or POCs. The role provides subject-matter leadership in HP's Edge AI and Advanced Compute Practice, developing reusable architectures, reference designs, demonstrations, POC frameworks, and deployment methodologies. It also supports sales and business development through opportunity qualification, customer workshops, executive briefings, demonstrations, RFP responses, technical proposals, and solution presentations. Travel is listed at 50%.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience in technical presales, forward deployment engineering, solution engineering or architecture, AI infrastructure, advanced compute, or a related discipline, with strong experience in one or more of these areas.
  • Experience designing and deploying AI, Edge AI, computer vision, advanced compute, or accelerated computing solutions.
  • Hands-on knowledge of modern AI infrastructure, including GPUs, CPUs, NPUs, accelerators, containers, networking, storage, and hybrid-cloud technologies.
  • Experience taking technical solutions from POC or pilot into production environments.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex hardware, software, networking, application, and integration challenges.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise architecture, security, scalability, manageability, and production operational requirements.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into technical architectures and technical capabilities into business outcomes.
  • Strong customer-facing presentation, communication, and technical storytelling skills.
  • Ability to collaborate across sales, engineering, product management, services, partners, and customer organizations.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with AI inference and Edge AI frameworks.
  • Experience with NVIDIA and other accelerated-compute ecosystems.
  • Knowledge of computer vision, video analytics, generative AI, and AI inference workloads.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, containers, Linux, APIs, and modern application architectures.
  • Experience working with ISVs and technology ecosystem partners.
  • Experience supporting enterprise customers in retail, manufacturing, industrial, healthcare, public sector, or other Edge AI-intensive industries.
  • Experience developing production reference architectures and repeatable solution patterns.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with customers, account teams, Enterprise Architects, and business stakeholders to understand business challenges, technical requirements, workloads, infrastructure, data environments, and desired outcomes.
  • Translate customer requirements into actionable Edge AI and Advanced Compute architectures and implementation strategies.
  • Identify opportunities for AI inference, computer vision, intelligent edge workloads, advanced compute, and related technologies to improve customer operations or create business capabilities; connect near-term opportunities with broader customer technology and AI strategies.
  • Design end-to-end Edge AI solutions using appropriate edge computing platforms, CPUs, GPUs, NPUs, AI accelerators, inference and model deployment, computer vision, data processing, containers, orchestration, edge management, observability, networking, security, device management, and cloud or hybrid-cloud integration.
  • Develop solution architectures that address performance, scalability, manageability, security, reliability, cost, and operational requirements.
  • Own technical execution of customer POCs, pilots, and solution validations; define objectives, technical success criteria, business outcomes, architecture, timelines, responsibilities, and exit criteria before execution.
  • Configure, integrate, test, troubleshoot, and optimize Edge AI solutions in customer and lab environments, connecting technical results to measurable customer outcomes.
  • Serve as the technical owner for moving successful POCs into production deployments; develop productionization plans covering architecture, infrastructure, security, integration, operational readiness, support, monitoring, deployment, and scaling.
  • Identify technical and organizational barriers to production and develop mitigation plans; coordinate with HP Services, engineering, partners, ISVs, Enterprise Architecture, and customer teams to transition from presales validation into implementation.
  • Maintain technical continuity throughout discovery, architecture, validation, POC, production, and scale.
  • Maintain expertise in emerging Edge AI technologies, architectures, AI models, inference frameworks, accelerators, compute platforms, and industry use cases.
  • Build reusable architectures, technical patterns, reference designs, demonstrations, POC frameworks, and deployment methodologies; share customer-engagement lessons with HP product, engineering, services, and practice development teams.
  • Partner with sales and technical account teams to identify, qualify, and advance Edge AI opportunities.
  • Provide technical leadership during customer workshops, architecture sessions, executive briefings, demonstrations, RFP responses, and solution presentations.
