Prep Cook (Part Time)
About The Position
The Prep Cook prepares food and serves customers in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations. The role is based at NH Rowan Medical Center in Salisbury, North Carolina, and is part-time, with a schedule of 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on variable days, including rotating weekends. The position requires previous prep cooking experience and pays $17.00 to $21.00 per hour. The Prep Cook obtains daily production schedules and preparation requirements from the Chef, prepares food according to production sheets and established recipes, and completes required production and waste documentation. The role also involves tasting completed meals, maintaining food quality and safety, cleaning and operating equipment, storing and labeling food, following HACCP and sanitation procedures, taking and fulfilling customer orders, serving at multiple stations, addressing customer concerns, and performing other assigned duties.
Requirements
- Previous prep cooking experience required.
Responsibilities
- Obtain the daily production schedule and preparation requirements from the Chef.
- Prepare items according to production sheets, established quantities, approved recipes, and production standards.
- Complete and follow daily production worksheets, waste logs, and other required documentation, reports, and logs.
- Taste completed meals to ensure quality.
- Operate and clean equipment according to department procedures after each use.
- Store, label, and date food items according to policy.
- Follow HACCP guidelines and applicable health, food safety, and sanitation requirements.
- Take customer orders and prepare items requiring short preparation time.
- Serve customers efficiently and in a friendly manner, including fulfilling orders from steam tables and grills at multiple stations.
- Ensure proper food quality, serving temperatures, and standard portion control.
- Resolve customer concerns.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
