About The Position

Join the team at Children’s Friend as a Teacher Assistant, where you’ll help provide a nurturing, stimulating, and inclusive classroom environment for young learners in one of our Preschool Classrooms! This role is full-time, Monday - Friday, 7:30am-4:00pm, with a salary range of $16.62-$18.50 Hourly.

Requirements

  • TA I: High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • TA II: Child Development Associate (CDA) credential required.
  • TA III: Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education (or related field) required.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education OR an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree and successful completion of a Teacher Assistant Training program approved by the Rhode Island Department of Elementary and Secondary Education
  • Hold a RI Early Learning and Development Standards (RIELDS) certificate relevant to the position OR have an individual professional development plan for achieving this requirement within 12 months of employment
  • Ability to organize and plan activities
  • Ability to establish warm, supportive relationships and provide a wide variety of stimulating and developmentally appropriate experiences for children
  • Basic computer skills required for data input and use of email
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and first aid
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
  • Ability to work under the general supervision of the Teacher
  • Successful completion of required pre-employment background screening
  • Ability to provide documentation showing proof of all required medical clearances and immunizations

Responsibilities

  • Assist the classroom teacher in planning and implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum
  • Support children’s learning and development through active engagement and guidance
  • Conduct daily health observations and maintain accurate child progress documentation
  • Help create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for children and families
  • Attend parent-teacher conferences and home visits, supporting family engagement
  • Participate in professional development, team meetings, and coaching sessions
  • Support integration of services across home, classroom, and community settings
