Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Child Development Associate (CDA) credential required.
- Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education (or related field) required.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education OR an Associate's or Bachelor's degree and successful completion of a Teacher Assistant Training program approved by the Rhode Island Department of Elementary and Secondary Education
- Hold a RI Early Learning and Development Standards (RIELDS) certificate relevant to the position OR have an individual professional development plan for achieving this requirement within 12 months of employment
- Ability to organize and plan activities
- Ability to establish warm, supportive relationships and provide a wide variety of stimulating and developmentally appropriate experiences for children
- Basic computer skills required for data input and use of email
- Knowledge of health, safety, and first aid
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
- Ability to work under the general supervision of the Teacher
- Successful completion of required pre-employment background screening
- Ability to provide documentation showing proof of all required medical clearances and immunizations
Responsibilities
- Assist the classroom teacher in planning and implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum
- Support children’s learning and development through active engagement and guidance
- Conduct daily health observations and maintain accurate child progress documentation
- Help create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for children and families
- Attend parent-teacher conferences and home visits, supporting family engagement
- Participate in professional development, team meetings, and coaching sessions
- Support integration of services across home, classroom, and community settings
