About The Position

River Road Early Learning Center is seeking a caring, energetic, and dedicated Assistant Pre-K Teacher to join our team. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with young children, believes in the importance of early childhood education, and is passionate about helping children develop academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually. As an Assistant Teacher, you will work alongside our Lead Teacher to create a nurturing, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment that prepares children for kindergarten success. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and actively participate in classroom activities.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with preschool-aged children preferred.
  • CDA, associate's degree, or coursework in Early Childhood Education preferred.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Positive, dependable, and professional attitude.
  • Has a genuine love for working with young children.
  • Must be patient, kind, and nurturing.
  • Enjoys working collaboratively with a Lead Teacher.
  • Takes initiative and is eager to learn.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons and activities.
  • Support children's cognitive, language, social-emotional, and physical development.
  • Foster a warm, nurturing classroom where every child feels safe, valued, and encouraged.
  • Supervise children during classroom activities, outdoor play, meals, and rest time.
  • Assist with classroom organization, preparation of materials, and daily routines.
  • Encourage positive behavior through consistent guidance and encouragement.
  • Support early literacy, math, science, art, music, and hands-on learning experiences.
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment.
  • Observe children and share developmental observations with the Lead Teacher.
  • Build positive relationships with families through daily communication.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and administrators to support student success.
  • Follow all Virginia licensing regulations and River Road Early Learning Center policies.
