About The Position

This position can be based out of any of H.O. Penn Machinery's 6 locations: Poughkeepsie, NY; Bloomingburg, NY; Bronx, NY; Holtsville, NY; Medford, NY; or Newington, CT. The role involves planning, directing, and coordinating activities to develop and control sales and service programs to achieve targeted engine parts and service sales volume and margins, while providing a high level of customer satisfaction. The manager will ensure adequate sales coverage and take appropriate actions for growth opportunities by planning and controlling marketing strategies, tactics, and sales techniques. The Engine Product Support Sales operation will be effectively and efficiently managed through review of quotations, contracts, and purchase orders, maintaining knowledge of Caterpillar Merchandising Programs, and fostering positive relationships with Caterpillar Sales and Support Groups. The role also involves reviewing receivables with the sales force, supporting collection efforts, and working with Parts and Service Management to determine pricing, control costs, and communicate work schedules. Support is provided to Power Systems Sales and Project Management initiatives by collaborating with service departments, developing and implementing marketing plans, providing customized product support offerings, and ensuring product support coverage for new installations. Additionally, the position focuses on building a high-performing workforce through effective hiring, development, and retention of talent, fostering engagement, collaboration, and safety, and ensuring a culture that focuses on safety and safe work habits. The manager will also contribute to positive customer experiences by maintaining the professionalism, appearance, and accessibility of facilities.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3+ years of sales management experience, with demonstrated success in developing and leading high-performing teams
  • Industry experience in power generation, energy, industrial equipment, heavy equipment, construction, marine, data center, utility, oil & gas, mining, or related sectors highly preferred
  • Proven ability to analyze market trends, competitive landscapes, and customer needs to drive growth strategies
  • Strong negotiation, relationship management, and customer engagement skills with a focus on long-term partnerships
  • Solid financial acumen, including experience with pricing strategies, margins, and profitability analysis
  • Highly self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license required with ability to travel locally up to 50%

Responsibilities

  • Plan, direct and coordinate activities to develop and control sales and service programs to produce our targeted engine parts and service sales volume and margins

  • Maintain positive working relationship with Caterpillar Sales and Support Groups
  • Review receivable with sales force and support collection efforts in conjunction with the Credit Department
  • Work effectively with Parts and Service Management to determine pricing of work, control costs and communicate work schedules in an all-win manner for all stakeholders
  • Collaborate with Service Supervisors in developing and implementing marketing plans for promoting sales of CSAs and product support
  • Work effectively with Sales force to provide CSA's, life cycle pricing and customized product support offerings for new opportunities
  • Work effectively with Project Management to ensure product support coverage exists for all new installations including customer training
  • Achieve a culture of high productivity and morale by fostering engagement, collaboration, and safety
  • Build a high-performing team by developing members to consistently achieve job expectations through coaching, continuous feedback, and accountability
