About The Position

The Pouch Room Operator is responsible for operating multiple pouch machines safely and efficiently while performing quality control audits of SFG pouches. This role involves starting up, operating, and shutting down various systems of the pouch machine, including forming, cooling, sealing, straw strip placement, coding, and conveying. The operator will also manage packaging roll changes, optimize equipment uptime, monitor mechanical operations, and assist in troubleshooting mechanical problems. A key aspect of the role is supervising quality issues, performing and recording checks on pouch visual points of quality and seal alignment, and ensuring adequate quantities of accurate rotated foil stock are available and tested. The position requires completing all required audits, documenting material losses, downtime, and production totals, and maintaining good housekeeping and a tour-ready status for the area. Compliance with company policies, procedures, and completion of all DMS forms (CIL, CLM, 5S, Defect handling, Shift hand-offs, Oscar boards, etc.) are also essential. This position also holds accountability for QRMP standards.

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required (steel-toed shoes, hair and beard nets, bump caps, gloves, eye protection, aprons etc.)

  • May be requested work occasional overtime (including weekends)
  • Schedules are subject to change based on business needs
  • Must be comfortable working on a tablet/computer
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Must be able to work as both an individual contributor as well as work well as a team member
  • Must be able to adapt to a changing environment/schedule

Responsibilities

  • Starts up, operates, and shuts down pouch forming, cooling, sealing, straw strip placement, coding, and conveying systems of the pouch machine.
  • Makes packaging roll changes as needed.
  • Optimizes equipment uptime; monitors mechanical operation of equipment and unjams machines.
  • Helps troubleshoot mechanical problems and notifies technician of issues.
  • Supervises quality issues, performs and records checks on pouch visual points of quality.
  • Performs and records checks on seal alignment.
  • Ensure adequate quantities of accurate rotated foil stock (FIFO) are available and tested.
  • Complete all required audits.
  • Document pouches material losses, downtime, and production totals; palletize finished boxes of pouches.
  • Maintains good housekeeping.
  • Ensure “Area of Responsibility” is clean and orderly.
  • Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Ensures completion of all DMS forms (ie. CIL, CLM, 5S, Defect handling, Shift hand-offs, Oscar boards, etc.)
  • Maintains room as a tour ready status.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
  • Accountability for QRMP standards as outlined in the Winchester Kraft Heinz QRMP accountability document.
