The Postdoctoral Fellow will conduct research related to federally sponsored projects and other activities, emphasizing ceramics and polymer-derived materials for harsh environments. Research includes synthesizing high-temperature and other extreme-condition materials, including polymer-derived ceramics; conducting modeling, simulations, and machine learning; and testing and characterizing materials for composition, phase, and microstructure. The fellow will study material behavior and fundamental mechanisms in harsh environments and develop theoretical understanding of the research. The position also involves developing detailed research plans, implementing research tasks, preparing project reports and journal manuscripts, planning research events, collaborating with researchers on and off campus, and working with university personnel on laboratory-related issues. The fellow will assist undergraduate and graduate student research, help develop grant proposals, deliver educational programs, and coordinate activities involving project members.
