The Sweis Laboratory for Translational Neuroeconomics, established in 2024 at Mount Sinai, studies neural mechanisms underlying decision-making and motivated behavior. The lab combines large-scale animal behavioral studies with in vivo physiology and circuit manipulation to investigate how brain-wide neural systems integrate information to support complex behavior. Its NIH-funded research brings together systems neuroscience, computational approaches, and translational models relevant to psychiatric disorders. The postdoctoral fellow will lead independent and collaborative research projects, designing and conducting experiments with neural recording and manipulation tools, analyzing high-dimensional datasets, and contributing to translational research. The role supports candidates pursuing academic independence and includes developing independent research projects and generating independent funding. The position is funded by the NIH for two years, with possible extension based on performance and funding availability. The research will generate and analyze behavioral and physiology data for existing funded projects on decision-making, information processing, and behavior in rodents. This includes recording from and perturbing reward-related circuits during neuroeconomic decision-making. The fellow will also develop independent research lines and funding in preparation for transition to research independence.
