Postdoctoral Fellow-MSH-32035-054

Mount Sinai Health Systems•New York, NY
•$72,500 - $80,000•Onsite

About The Position

The Postdoctoral Fellow will join the Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolism Institute (DOMI) laboratory of Liora Katz at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. The laboratory investigates pancreatic beta-cell biology, including mechanisms of beta-cell failure, adaptive expansion, and stress resilience in metabolic disease. Supported by active NIH R01 and R03 grants, the project evaluates transcription factor dynamics, including the ChREBP axis, and cytoprotective mechanisms. The fellow will lead research on early drivers of beta-cell failure and assess therapeutic small-molecule 14-3-3 molecular glues, such as Compound 43, intended to protect beta-cells from glucolipotoxicity and cytokine stress. The research aims to elucidate pathways mediating beta-cell failure and validate molecular-glue interventions to preserve beta-cell mass and function. The fellow is expected to drive the work toward high-impact peer-reviewed publications, present findings at national and international conferences such as the ADA Scientific Sessions or HIRN meetings, and contribute to grant applications. The role requires hands-on mouse handling and in vivo protocols, as well as molecular biology and biochemistry work and confocal imaging. NGS sequencing and analysis may be performed optionally. The position is located at 1428 Madison Ave, Atran Building, 5th floor. Salary is $72,500–$80,000 annually; the posting states that actual salary depends on experience, education, and operational need.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior expertise in pancreatic islet biology is highly preferred.
  • NGS sequencing and analysis is optional.
