Postdoctoral Fellow-MSH-32035-054

Mount Sinai Health System•New York, NY
•$74,692 - $80,000•Onsite

About The Position

The Postdoctoral Fellow will work in the Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolism Institute at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. The laboratory investigates pancreatic beta-cell biology, including mechanisms of beta-cell failure, adaptive expansion, and stress resilience in metabolic disease. Supported by active NIH R01 and R03 grants, the project examines transcription factor dynamics, including the ChREBP axis, and cytoprotective mechanisms. The fellow will study early drivers of beta-cell failure and evaluate therapeutic small-molecule 14-3-3 molecular glues, such as Compound 43, intended to protect beta-cells from glucolipotoxicity and cytokine stress. The role includes hands-on mouse handling, molecular biology and biochemistry protocols, and confocal imaging. NGS sequencing and analysis may also be involved, but are optional. The project aims to elucidate pathways mediating beta-cell failure and validate interventions using molecular glues to preserve beta-cell mass and function. The fellow is expected to drive the project toward high-impact peer-reviewed publications, present research at national and international conferences, and contribute to grant applications. The position is based at 1428 Madison Ave, Atran building, 5th floor.

Requirements

  • Ph.D., M.D./Ph.D., or equivalent degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Sciences, or a closely related discipline.

  • Mandatory hands-on experience in mouse handling and in vivo protocols.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior expertise in pancreatic islet biology is highly preferred.
  • Experience with NGS sequencing and analysis is optional.
