The Sweis Laboratory for Translational Neuroeconomics at Mount Sinai studies the neural mechanisms underlying decision-making and motivated behavior. The laboratory combines large-scale animal behavioral studies with in vivo physiology and circuit manipulation to investigate how brain-wide neural systems integrate information to support complex behavior. Its NIH-funded research uses systems neuroscience, computational approaches, and translational models relevant to psychiatric disorders. The Postdoctoral Fellow will lead independent and collaborative research projects, design and conduct experiments using neural recording and manipulation tools, analyze high-dimensional datasets, and contribute to translational research. The role is intended for candidates pursuing academic independence. The position is NIH-funded for two years and may be extended based on performance and funding availability. Competitive applicants are expected to generate independent funding. Research goals include generating and analyzing behavioral and physiology data for funded projects on decision-making, information processing, and behavior in rodents. This includes recording from and perturbing reward-related circuits during neuroeconomic decision-making, as well as developing independent research projects and securing funding in preparation for a transition to independence.
