About The Position

The Postdoctoral Associate conducts scientific research and studies under the supervision of managing staff, contributing to the scientific community and promoting institutional recognition. In the Dermatology department, the role plans and conducts assigned and/or original research projects autonomously while collaborating with University of Miami faculty, staff, postdoctoral associates, and students. The position performs molecular and cell biology techniques and genomic analyses, maintains accurate research records, assists with manuscripts and grant preparation, and presents findings at professional meetings.

Requirements

• Doctorate degree in a relevant field.
• Skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data.
• Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research in assigned areas of study.
• Prepare research reports and technical papers for publication.
• Investigate the feasibility of applying scientific principles and theories.
• Maintain substantial knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories.
• Develop advanced analytical models and systems and provide solutions and analyses supporting strategic and tactical decisions.
• Follow University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguard University assets.
• Plan and conduct assigned and/or original research projects autonomously while collaborating with faculty, staff, postdocs, and students.
• Perform molecular and cell biology techniques, including nucleic acid extraction and manipulation, PCR, RT-PCR, Western blot analysis, immunostaining, cell culture, cell transfections, and cell sorting.
• Perform genomic data analyses resulting from next-generation sequencing data.
• Maintain accurate records of research findings and analysis results.
• Assist in preparing manuscripts for publication and grant preparations.
• Present research findings at professional meetings.
